Traffic regulations for robots
When 72 objects move through a Hall, there have to be "traffic regulations" in order to prevent them colliding with each other or with visitors. For this reason, the cocoon-shaped robots are able to respond to four orders: "Keep moving!", "Avoid all obstacles!", "Move constantly but not too quickly!" and last but not least, "Follow the flock!" Their top speed is a good 1 kilometre an hour. The software for the drive system was developed by the Frauenhofer Institute.
